A Typical Day in the Life of Pleasant Grove Food Pantry

Volunteers arrive at 7:15 a.m. to prepare for food distribution.  Clients are already in line, some since 6 a.m.  Clients continue to wait as volunteers set up the pantry for the day.  At 9 a.m., volunteers begin in-person food distribution inside.  A volunteer meets each family at the door for a quick pre-screening to determine if we have current information on them, if there are any changes since the last time they were here, or if they are here for the first time. Then each family is processed through intake procedures, guided toward the resource tables, and receives food.  Each family leaves with enough nutritious food for 5-7 days of meals. At 11:30 a.m., distribution ends and volunteers pack away and store the food not distributed along with carts, tables, trash, etc. On average, 300 families with 1200 family members are served.
